May the hallways be filled with music. Let us wear out our instruments in the service of making music to our God rather than by neglect, misuse, or malice. We are blessed to have musical instruments in our houses of worship. Did you know: read more. . .
Did you ever want to learn more about the piano or organ? Do you ever wish you could conduct music. You can learn more about all these items and more at the upcoming Music Training May 14th from 9:30-12 at the Coal Mountain GA Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

This is an opportunity to grow in skill and wisdom to be of better service in the Lord’s Kingdom. Trained and skilled musicians will be available that morning to teach and guide.
When Moses called for help in construction of the tabernacle, those with wise and willing hearts stepped up and volunteered. They had developed themselves and their skills before the call. Music functions in the same way. We learn and practice, then learn more and practice more so we can step up when the call and need arise.
The training session titled “Something All Can Give” comes from the primary song “Give Said the Little Stream”. In our hearts we can all sing the refrain “Give oh give away”.
We have planned classes but they are flexible and we will help anyone with other music needs or questions: The classes are as follows:
Music Coordinator as Detective & Other Job Descriptions
No More Fear – Introduction to Organ and Piano
Before the Meeting – Prayerful, Planned Preludes
Singing Again and the Post Pandemic Choir
Expanding Your Music Library: Resources & Examples
Open Discussion About Church Music with Q&A
Demo of ‘Other’ Instruments & Their Use
Let us know if you have special needs and that you are coming. Email coalstakemusic@gmail.com
The BYU Organ Online Training Sessions will be expanded during the upcoming year to include not only 5 classes geared toward early level church organists, but also 2 classes for beyond the basics training. We will add some ongoing individual feedback sessions at a later date. All events are free of charge and available to pianists and organists in any location!
The presentations will offer a pre-recorded video from 7-8 pm Mountain Time, interactive chat with the instructor during the video, followed by a live Question & Answer session. Enroll for the sessions by hovering over each topic and clicking the “Register” button. Recordings of each class will be available to view for one month following the live presentation.

Story of the Hymn, “We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet
In 2020 the Dahlonega Ward received a new Allen LD-34 Digital Organ replacing the original Allen Organ installed in the building more than 30 years ago. That organ had limitations and problems that the new addition surpassed and improved to the delight of all those playing on it. To introduce the new organ to the ward and stake, a recital type program titled “Meet the Organ” was held in 2021. This arrangement by Andrew Unsworth of ‘Prelude to an English Folk Song’ also known as ‘O Waly, Waly’ was played by Kay Bohn at ‘Meet the Organ’.
