Music and the Doctrine and Covenants

It is in this book of scripture that the Lord commissioned Emma Smith to compile the first hymnal for the restored Church of Jesus Christ. See section 25.

The first hymnal compiled by Emma Smith, wife of Joseph Smith. Read more about the history here.

The Seminary program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has music available to help with the teaching of the book of scripture known as the Doctrine and Covenants. It is found in the music section of the Church’s website churchofjesuschrist.org

One of the hymns included in the first hymnal is “The Spirit of God”. Here is an arrangement by Mack Wilberg performed by the Evangel Choir in Ghana.
